    Sundara Kaanda Sarga 10

    Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 10
In this Sarga Hanumān approaches the magnificent bedstead and the mighty Rāvaṇa sleeping on it. He sees many beautiful women who have dozed off under the power of intoxication, hugging the musical instruments they were playing.
He then finds Mandōdari, an extraordinary beauty, on a bed that is distinctly set aside. Based on her youthful looks and extraordinary charm, he mistakes her to be Seetā and jumps with joy.

    The great Vānara saw the

the darling of the Rākshasa women
and the unfailing joy of Rākshasas’,
lying fast asleep on that splendid bed,
    with his eyes turned blood-red
    after night-long sport and potations.
He of mighty arms was immense like a cloud.
    Wearing dazzling and exquisite ear-pendants,
(his body) smeared with fragrant red-sandal paste,
    he resembled a great rain-cloud
    in the scarlet evening sky
    with lightning playing on it.
    He of attractive body,
who could take any form at will,
    covered in splendid ornaments,

Mandara mountain with its wealth of
groves and thickets that lay asleep there.
