Yuddha Kaanda Sarga 90
Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 90
In this Sarga, Indrajit, whose chariot was broken, manages to sneak back into the city and come back on another chariot to continue the fight. He slays hundreds and thousands of Vānaras with his arrows. The Vānaras seek refuge in Lakshmaṇa.
Lakshmaṇa with his spectacular skill of archery shoots down the Rākshasas and takes aim at Indrajit. Those mighty warriors then get within close quarters of each other and launch a fierce attack with floods of arrows. Lakshmaṇa cuts off the head of the charioteer of Indrajit.
Meanwhile Indrajit also shoots arrows at Vibheeshaṇa and Vibheeshaṇa, in rage, slays his horses. Lakshmaṇa foils Indrajit’s further attempts at striking Vibheeshaṇa.
Indrajit then shoots Yama's Astra. Lakshmaṇa strikes it down with Kubēra's Astra. Lakshmaṇa then shoots Varuṇa's Astra and Indrajit strikes it down with Rudra's Astra. Indrajit then shoots Agni's Astra and Lakshmaṇa renders it futile with Surya's Astra. Indrajit then shoots Asura's Astra and Lakshmaṇa strikes it down with Mahēṡwara's Astra.
Then Lakshmaṇa shoots the powerful Indra's Astra, swearing on the adherence of Rāma to Dharma and Truth. Indra's Astra severs the head of Indrajit from his body. The Rākshasas flee seeing Indrajit fallen dead and the Vānaras jump with joy. Dēvas, Gandharvas and other celestial beings shower flowers and praise Lakshmaṇa.
