Qualities For Success in Life:
There is a famous passage from the Ramacharitamanas.
Lord Ram here advices Vibhishana regarding the qualities needed for success in life. Here it is explained in the form of a chariot which is needed for victory.
Vibhishana asks Lord Ram to fight Ravana by riding on a chariot.
In reply Shri Ram said:
Bring a chariot if it is obligatory for victory.
That chariot should have wheels of valor and patience;
Strong flag and buntings of truth and good conduct;
Horses of strength, wisdom, self-control and goodness
Link rope of pardon, kindness and equality;
A wise charioteer of God’s recitation;
A field of renunciation, sword of satisfaction,
An axe of charity, deadly power of intelligence,
A hardened bow of the best knowledge;
A quiver like a pure and decisive mind;
Several arrows of self-control and morality
Impenetrable armor of Brahman worship
There is no other way of victory like this.
Gita on Success

Success and Failure
As per Bhagwat Gita we should not get disturbed in life due to success or failure in it. We should remain calm at mind in all circumstances. Below are few verse which explain that.
"yoga-sthah kuru karmani
sangam tyaktva dhananjaya
siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva
samatvam yoga ucyate" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 48)
"Sri Krishna said: Perform your duty equi-poised, O Arjuna, abandoning all attachment to success or failure. Such an equanimity is called yoga."
One should always do one's best, and strive vigorously for success in all efforts, but also literally become indifferent to the consequences of one's own actions. This is called the yoga of action, or karma yoga, as embodied in the immortal Gita sloka 2.47 from chapter 2.
KarmaNi eva adhikaaras te maa phaleshu kadaacana ।
Maa karma phala hetur bhooh maa te sangos tu akarmaNi ।। 2.47 ।।
कर्मणि एव अधिकारः ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।
मा कर्मफल हेतुर्भूः मा ते सङ्गोsस्तु अकर्मणि ।। 2.47 ।।
Literal meaning : You are entitled to do your duty and action, but never to the results of your actions.
Let not the results be your motivation, and do not be attached to laziness and inaction.
Srimad-Bhagavatam
SB 10.36.38
Śrī Akrūra said: O King, you have expertly devised a process to free yourself of misfortune. Still, one should be equal in success and failure, since it is certainly destiny that produces the results of one's work.
