sought out and assailed each other
with a variety of weapons.
This Ṡlōka seems to be unauthentic. Only Rākshasas wield Parighas. Vānaras fight throwing rocks and trees. This Ṡlōka says both are fighting with Parighas.

by the Vānaras who were
cocksure of winning the fight.
