As the terrible and extremely brutal fight went on,
Indrajit, a great master of trickery, vanished instantly,
his horses and charioteer destroyed by Aṅgada.

All the Dēvas, along with the Ṛshis
praised that exploit of Vāli’s son,
who deserved all the honor, and
so did the brothers Rāma and Lakshmaṇa.

that were sharp and powerful as the thunderbolt.

struck Rāma and Lakshmaṇa all over their bodies
with arrows that were in the shape of serpents.

with his magical powers, and
confounding the scions of Raghu as well,
that night-rover, fighting unfairly, tied down
the brothers Rāma and Lakshmaṇa with his arrows.

Finding it impossible to fight in the open,
the powerful son of the Rākshasa King
resorted to his magical powers
to tie the two princes down.

ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
யுத்தகாண்டே சதுஸ்சத்வாரிம்ஸ: ஸர்க:॥

Thus concludes the forty fourth Sarga
in Yuddha Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki.
