With eyes turned red with anger,
he commanded his officials repeatedly:
‘Seize the blockhead and kill him.’

Seeing the hundreds of Akshouhiṇis
of Vana dwellers who were stretched
to the shore of the ocean besieging Laṅkā
the Rākshasas were amazed.
Some were terrified, while others were delighted
about the prospect of fighting a battle.

the sight of the entire space
between the ramparts and the moats
being filled with the Vānaras,
and the ramparts, one mass of Vānaras.
Terrified and bewildered,
the Rākshasas cried, ‘Alas, Alas!’

When that frightful din arose in
the capital city of the Rākshasas,
they armed themselves with mighty weapons
and rushed about like the fierce
wind that blows at the dissolution of the world.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
யுத்தகாண்டே ஏகசத்வாரிம்ஸ: ஸர்க:॥
