tāṃ surairapi durdharṣām
rāmavākyapracōditāḥ ।
yathānivēṡaṃ sampīḍya
nyaviṡanta vanaukasaḥ ॥
The Vana dwellers, spurred by Rāma’s command,
gave a jolt to the city that was beautiful
with its festoons of banners and buntings,
its gardens and woods, its splendid ramparts and lofty gates,
and was impregnable even to the gods,
entering it and taking positions as planned.

sāyudhai rākṣasairbhīmaiḥ
abhiguptaṃ samantataḥ ।
laghūnāṃ trāsajananam
pātālamiva dānavaiḥ ॥
For, none other than Rāma could effectively
block that entrance, which was formidable with
its defense being directed by Rāvaṇa
as the ocean is looked after by Varuṇa,
and guarded on all sides by powerful
armed forces of Rākshasas as the nether
world is by the Dānavas, striking terror
in the hearts of men of meager mettle.

established themselves ready for attack,
at the same place where Sugreeva was.

வாநாராணாம் து ஷட்த்ரிம்ஸத்
கோட்ய: ப்ரக்யாதயூதபா: ।
நிபீட்யோபநிவிஷ்டாஸ்ச
ஸுக்ரீவோ யத்ர வாநர: ॥
vānārāṇāṃ tu ṣaṭtriṃṡat
kōṭyaḥ prakhyātayūthapāḥ ।
nipīḍyōpaniviṣṭāṡca
sugrīvō yatra vānaraḥ ॥
Thirty six crores of renowned captains of the army
established themselves ready for attack,
at the same place where Sugreeva was.

ஸாஸநேந து ராமஸ்ய
லக்ஷ்மண: ஸவிபீஷண: ।
த்வாரே த்வாரே ஹரீணாம் து
கோடிம் கோடிம் ந்யவேஸயத் ॥
ṡāsanēna tu rāmasya
lakṣmaṇaḥ savibhīṣaṇaḥ ।
dvārē dvārē harīṇāṃ tu
kōṭiṃ kōṭiṃ nyavēṡayat ॥
Following the orders of Rāma,
Lakshmaṇa, assisted by Vibheeshaṇa,
stationed a crore of Vānaras at every entrance.
