    Yuddha Kaanda Sarga 31

    Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 31
In this Sarga, Rāvaṇa, somewhat shaken having learnt aboutthe presence of Rāma with a huge army led by immensely strong Vānaras, consults with his counselors on what to do next and comes up with a plan.
He summons Vidyujjihva, a great sorcerer and orders him to create look-alikes of Rāma’s head and Rāma’s bow, which he does immediately. Taking Vidyujjihva, the fake head and fake bow with him, he goes to Seetā.
Then he tells Seetā that Rāma, and all the army including the chiefs like Sugreeva, Aṅgada, Hanumān, Jāmbavan, et. al. were killed by the Rākshasas when they were asleep. He then places the fake head of Rāma and the fake bow in front of her and invites her to become his wife and rule over all his wives.
