Rāma, the son of Daṡaratha
beheld the body of water
with its shoals of turtle and fish.

battalions and go elsewhere.
Let the valorous Vānaras
scout for any hidden dangers.

seeking the farther shore of that great ocean.

a home for Asuras,
was dangerous and impassable.

and the sea with the sky.
Filled with stars and gems respectively,
they looked really to be the same.

and the sea with the sky.
Filled with stars and gems respectively,
they looked really to be the same.

Full of water, gems and aquatic animals,
and making roaring sounds
it seemed to rise up in anger,
blending into the air above.

Those highly excited (Vānaras)
beheld the water churned by the wind.
With its billows thrown high by the wind
the ocean appeared as if it was
trying to chitchat with the sky.

The Vānaras, standing there,
watched with amazement the sea
that seemed to be on the move
with its swirls of roaring waves.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
யுத்தகாண்டே சதுர்த: ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
