O sinless one, O tiger among men!
I could, slowly and carefully, gain her trust,
by singing praises of the lineage of Ikshwākus.

rāmasugrīvasakhyaṃ ca
ṡrutvā prītimupāgatā ।
niyatassamudācārō
bhaktiṡcāsyāstathā tvayi ॥
Then, knowing about the entire mission,
and the alliance between Rāma and Sugreeva,
the Dēvi, who is fully devoted to you
and observes best practices, was happy.

That is how I found the blessed lady,
the delight of Janaka,
who is given to rigorous Tapa,
and who is completely devoted to you,
O bull among men!

As a token of confirmation (that I met her)
she told me the incident involving a crow
that happened in your presence
at Citrakūṭa, O sagacious Rāghava!

O son of Vāyu!”, said Jānaki to me.

And also, give this (jewel),
which I have managed to keep safely.”

mayā suparirakṣitaḥ ।
manaṡṡilāyāstilakō
gaṇḍapārṡvē nivēṡitaḥ ।
tvayā praṇaṣṭhē tilakē
taṃ kila smartumarhasi ॥
“I saved this splendid Cūḍāmaṇi carefully.
You should remind him how once
he put the Tilaka of Manaṡṡila
on my cheeks, while it was the
Tilaka on my forehead that was erased!”

ēṣa niryātitaṡṡrīmān
mayā tē vāri sambhavaḥ ।
ētaṃ dṛṣṭvā prahṛṣyāmi
vyasanē tvāmivānagha ॥
“I send to you this splendid one,
which is born out of water,
seeing which is like seeing you, O sinless one!
It cheers me up when I feel distressed.”

மாஸம் தஸரதாத்மஜ ।

jīvitaṃ dhārayiṣyāmi
māsaṃ daṡarathātmaja ।
ūrdhvaṃ māsānna jīvēyam
rakṣasāṃ vaṡamāgatā ॥
O son of Daṡaratha! I can hold on
to this life, at most, for a month!
Being under the control of the Rākshasas,
I will not live for any more than a month.

rāvaṇāntaḥ purē ruddhā
mṛgīvōtphullalōcanā ॥
This is what Seetā, an adherent of Dharma,
who was confined in the inner quarters of Rāvaṇa,
all her limbs worn out except
her eyes that were wide like doe’s, said.

ஸர்வம் ராகவ யத்யதா ।

sarvathā sāgarajalē
saṃtāraḥ pravidhīyatām ॥
I have told everything, O Rāghava, as it happened.
Arrangements shall be made now to cross the ocean!

வாசா ஸம்பூர்ணம் வாயுபுத்த்ர ஸ்ஸஸம்ஸ ॥
tau jātāṡvāsau rājaputrau viditvā
taccābhijñānaṃ rāghavāya pradāya ।
dēvyā cākhyātaṃ sarvamēvānupūrvyāt
vācā sampūrṇaṃ vāyuputtra ṡṡaṡaṃsa ॥
Noting that the princes were
gaining trust (in what he said),
the son of Vāyu went on to give Rāghava the token
and relayed to him in due order
all that the lady had told him.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
ஸுந்தரகாண்டே பஞ்சஷஷ்டிதமஸ்ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
sundarakāṇḍē pañcaṣaṣṭitamassargaḥ॥
Thus concludes the sixty fifth Sarga
in Sundara Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki.
