jaṭilā malinā kṛṡā ॥
The blameless daughter of Janaka was found
sitting in the Aṡōka pleasance
under the guard of horrid Rākshasis.
She, the young one, is waiting
yearning for a glimpse of Rāma,
emaciated and tired with fasting,
her matted and soiled hair
braided in a single plait.

mahārthamamṛtōpamam ।
niṡamya mārutēssarvē
muditā vānarābhavan ।
kṣvēlantyanyē nadantyanyē
garjantyanyē mahābalāḥ ।
cakruḥ kilakilāmanyē
pratigarjanti cāparē ॥
On hearing that word ‘found!’ from Māruti,
which fell on their ears like nectar
and which meant a lot, all the Vānaras rejoiced;
some howling, some emitting whoops of delight,
some making squeaky noises,
some mighty strong ones roaring and
some roaring in response to them.

Some of those, who were like elephants among Vānaras,
rejoiced, lifting up their tails,
straightening and stretching them and whipping them.

Some other Vānaras climbed down
from the mountain peaks and
touched Hanumān who resembled an elephant,
expressing their joy.

After Hanumān thus conveyed the message,
Aṅgada said these choice words to him
in the midst of the great Vānara warriors:

yadavaplutya vistīrṇam
sāgaraṃ punarāgataḥ ॥
There is no Vānara equal to you in power or valor
who has leaped over the wide ocean and returned!

ahō vīryamahō dhṛtiḥ ।
diṣṭyā dṛṣṭā tvayā dēvī
rāmapatnī yaṡasvinī ।
diṣṭyā tyakṣyati kākutsthaḥ
ṡōkaṃ sītāviyōgajam ॥
What devotion to your lord! What valor, what grit!
By the grace of Providence, the Dēvi,
the renowned wife of Rāma, was found by you!
By the grace of Providence, Kākutstha
can now shed his grief of separation from Seetā.

darṡanaṃ cāpi laṅkāyāḥ
sītāyā rāvaṇasya ca ।
tasthuḥ prāñjalayassarvē
hanumadvacanōnmukhāḥ ॥
Eager to hear of the crossing of the ocean,
the visiting of Laṅkā, Seetā and Rāvaṇa,
all of those eminent Vānaras waited
with their palms joined in reverence and
their attention locked in on the words of Hanumān.

like the lord of Dēvas in heaven
with the Dēvas at his service.

hanūmatā kīrtimatā yaṡasvinā

mudā tadā'dhyāsitamunnataṃ mahat
mahīdharāgraṃ jvalitaṃ ṡriyābhavat ॥
That huge and lofty mountain peak shone with splendor
with Hanumān, of immense fame and renown
and Aṅgada, wearing armlets, seated happily on it.
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
ஸுந்தரகாண்டே ஸப்தபஞ்சாஸஸ்ஸர்க:॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
