Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 56
In this Sarga, Hanumān consoles Seetā and takes leave of her while she praises him for what he had accomplished and urges him to do what he can so that Rāma destroys Laṅkā and takes her back in a manner that befits his valor, name and fame.
Then, getting ready to leap over the ocean, he climbs the mountain Arishṭa and increases his body size. The mountain, under the pressure of his weight sinks into the ground with the trees on it falling off and its peaks shaking violently. Hanumān then springs into the sky, eager to see Rāma.

ததஸ்து ஸிம்ஸுபாமூலே
ஜாநகீம் பர்யுபஸ்திதாம் ।
அபிவாத்யாப்ரவீத்திஷ்ட்யா
பஸ்யாமி த்வாமிஹாக்ஷதாம் ॥
tatastu ṡiṃṡupāmūlē
jānakīṃ paryupasthitām ।
abhivādyābravīddiṣṭyā
paṡyāmi tvāmihākṣatām ॥
Then making his prostrations to Jānaki
who sat under the Ṡiṃṡupa tree, he said:
‘By the grace of Providence I find you unharmed!’

ததஸ்தம் ப்ரஸ்திதம் ஸீதா
வீக்ஷமாணா புந: புந: ।
பர்த்ருஸ்நேஹாந்விதம் வாக்யம்
ஹநுமந்தமபாஷத ॥
tatastaṃ prasthitaṃ sītā
vīkṣamāṇā punaḥ punaḥ ।
bhartṛsnēhānvitaṃ vākyam
hanumantamabhāṣata ॥
Then looking at him again and again
as he was set to leave, Seetā said
to Hanumān these words that
showed her love for her husband:

காமமஸ்ய த்வமேவைக:
கார்யஸ்ய பரிஸாதநே ।
பர்யாப்த: பரவீரக்ந
யஸஸ்யஸ்தே பலோதய: ॥
kāmamasya tvamēvaikaḥ
kāryasya parisādhanē ।
paryāptaḥ paravīraghna
yaṡasyastē balōdayaḥ ॥
O destroyer of foe! You are the only one
who could accomplish a mission like this!
You deserve wide renown for the grit you have shown!

ஸரைஸ்து ஸங்குலாம் க்ருத்வா
லங்காம் பரபலார்தந: ।
மாம் நயேத்யதி காகுத்ஸ்த:
தத்தஸ்ய ஸத்ருஸம் பவேத் ॥
ṡaraistu saṅkulāṃ kṛtvā
laṅkāṃ parabalārdanaḥ ।
māṃ nayēdyadi kākutsthaḥ
tattasya sadṛṡaṃ bhavēt ॥
It would be befitting of Kākutstha,
if he, the destroyer of enemy forces, takes me back,
after putting Laṅkā in turmoil with his arrows.

தத்யதா தஸ்ய விக்ராந்தம்
அநுரூபம் மஹாத்மந: ।
பவத்யாஹவஸூரஸ்ய
ததா த்வமுபபாதய ॥
tadyathā tasya vikrāntam
anurūpaṃ mahātmanaḥ ।
bhavatyāhavaṡūrasya
tathā tvamupapādaya ॥
You must so contrive it that
the expedition would be worthy of the
prowess of that Ṡūra of battles.

ததர்தோபஹிதம் வாக்யம்
ப்ரஸ்ரிதம் ஹேதுஸம்ஹிதம் ।
நிஸம்ய ஹநுமாம்ஸ்தஸ்யா
வாக்யமுத்தரமப்ரவீத் ॥
tadarthōpahitaṃ vākyam
praṡritaṃ hētusaṃhitam ।
niṡamya hanumāṃstasyā
vākyamuttaramabravīt ॥
Hearing those reasonable words
of hers that carried a deep meaning,
Hanumān responded saying:

க்ஷிப்ரமேஷ்யதி காகுத்ஸ்த:
ஹர்ய்ருக்ஷப்ரவரைர்வ்ருத: ।
யஸ்தே யுதி விஜித்யாரீந்
ஸோகம் வ்யபநயிஷ்யதி ॥
kṣipramēṣyati kākutsthaḥ
haryṛkṣapravarairvṛtaḥ ।
yastē yudhi vijityārīn
ṡōkaṃ vyapanayiṣyati ॥
Kākutstha, who will
defeat the enemies in the battle
and put an end to your grief,
will come here soon along with Vānaras and bears.

ஏவமாஸ்வாஸ்ய வைதேஹீம்
ஹநுமாந் மாருதாத்மஜ: ।
கமநாய மதிம் க்ருத்வா
வைதேஹீமப்யவாதயத் ॥
ēvamāṡvāsya vaidēhīm
hanumān mārutātmajaḥ ।
gamanāya matiṃ kṛtvā
vaidēhīmabhyavādayat ॥
Thus consoling Vaidēhi and set to take leave,
Hanumān, the son of Vāyu, made prostrations to her.

ததஸ்ஸ கபிஸார்தூல:
ஸ்வாமிஸந்தர்ஸநோத்ஸுக: ।
ஆருரோஹ கிரிஸ்ரேஷ்டம்
அரிஷ்டமரிமர்தந: ॥
tatassa kapiṡārdūlaḥ
svāmisandarṡanōtsukaḥ ।
ārurōha giriṡrēṣṭham
ariṣṭamarimardanaḥ ॥
Eager to meet his master,
the Vānara, smasher of the foe,
climbed on to the great mountain, Arishṭa.

துங்கபத்மகஜுஷ்டாபி:
நீலாபிர்வநராஜிபி: ।
ஸோத்தரீயமிவாம்போதை:

tuṅgapadmakajuṣṭābhiḥ
nīlābhirvanarājibhiḥ ।
sōttarīyamivāmbhōdaiḥ
ṡṛṃgāntaravilambibhiḥ ॥
Dark woods covered it and elephants
with red patches on their bodies dotted it.
It was shining, with clouds hanging between its crests
looking like an upper garment.

போத்யமாநமிவ ப்ரீத்யா
திவாகரகரைஸ்ஸுபை: ।
உந்மிஷந்தமிவோத்தூதை:

bōdhyamānamiva prītyā
divākarakaraiṡṡubhaiḥ ।
unmiṣantamivōddhūtaiḥ
lōcanairiva dhātubhiḥ ॥
Its bright shining patches of ores
looked like eyes opened wide looking up,
upon it being woken up affectionately
by the sun with his lovely rays.

தோயௌகநிஸ்ஸ்வநைர்மந்த்ரை:
ப்ராதீதமிவ பர்வதம் ।
ப்ரகீதமிவ விஸ்பஷ்டை:
நாநாப்ரஸ்ரவணஸ்வநை: ॥
tōyaughanissvanairmandraiḥ
prādhītamiva parvatam ।
pragītamiva vispaṣṭaiḥ
nānāprasravaṇasvanaiḥ ॥
The rumble of the masses of water of
the mountain sounded like the chant of Vēdas,
while the gentle sounds of its streams
resembled musical notes.

தேவதாருபிரத்யுச்சை:
ஊர்த்வபாஹுமிவ ஸ்திதம் ।
ப்ரபாதஜலநிர்கோஷை:
ப்ராக்ருஷ்டமிவ ஸர்வத: ॥
dēvadārubhiratyuccaiḥ
ūrdhvabāhumiva sthitam ।
prapātajalanirghōṣaiḥ
prākruṣṭamiva sarvataḥ ॥
With its tall Dēvadāru trees, it seemed
as if it stood stretching its arms upwards.
With the din of its cascades, it seemed as if
it was roaring, from every direction.

வேபமாநமிவ ஸ்யாமை:
கம்பமாநைஸ்ஸரத்வநை: ।
வேணுபிர்மாருதோத்தூதை:
கூஜந்தமிவ கீசகை: ॥
vēpamānamiva ṡyāmaiḥ
kampamānaiṡṡaradvanaiḥ ।
vēṇubhirmārutōddhūtaiḥ
kūjantamiva kīcakaiḥ ॥
The swaying dark woods made that mountain look
as if it was shivering in that post-monsoon season.
With the wind blowing through the hallow bamboos
the mountain seemed as if it was whistling.

நிஸ்ஸ்வஸந்தமிவாமர்ஷாத்
கோரைராஸீவிஷோத்தமை: ।
நீஹாரக்ருதகம்பீரை:
த்யாயந்தமிவ கஹ்வரை: ॥
niṡṡvasantamivāmarṣāt
ghōrairāṡīviṣōttamaiḥ ।
nīhārakṛtagambhīraiḥ
dhyāyantamiva gahvaraiḥ ॥
With its huge, dreadful and poisonous snakes hissing,
the mountain appeared as if it was sighing.
With its deep caverns covered in snow,
the mountain looked as if it was meditating.

மேகபாதநிபை: பாதை:
ப்ரக்ராந்தமிவ ஸர்வத: ।
ஜ்ரும்ம்பமாணமிவாऽகாஸே
ஸிகரைரப்ரமாலிபி: ॥
mēghapādanibhaiḥ pādaiḥ
prakrāntamiva sarvataḥ ।
jṛṃmbhamāṇamivā'kāṡē
ṡikharairabhramālibhiḥ ॥
With its foothills resembling low hanging clouds,
it looked as if the mountain was
trying to tread in every direction.
With rings of clouds hovering on its peaks
it looked as if it was yawning.

கூடைஸ்ச பஹுதா கீர்ணை:
ஸோபிதம் பஹுகந்தரை: ।
ஸாலதாலாஸ்வகர்ணைஸ்ச
வம்ஸைஸ்ச பஹுபிர்வ்ருதம் ॥
kūṭaiṡca bahudhā kīrṇaiḥ
ṡōbhitaṃ bahukandaraiḥ ।
sālatālāṡvakarṇaiṡca
vaṃṡaiṡca bahubhirvṛtam ॥
It was lovely with its
many caves and many crests.
It was covered with many Sala,
palm, Aṡwakarṇa and bamboo trees.

லதாவிதாநைர்விததை:
புஷ்பவத்பிரலங்க்ருதம் ।
நாநாம்ருககணாகீர்ணம்
தாதுநிஷ்யந்தபூஷிதம் ॥
latāvitānairvitataiḥ
puṣpavadbhiralaṅkṛtam ।
nānāmṛgagaṇākīrṇam
dhātuniṣyandabhūṣitam ॥
It was decorated everywhere
with creepers in full flower.
It teemed with many herds of deer and
was adorned by streaks oozing from its ores.

பஹுப்ரஸ்ரவணோபேதம்
ஸிலாஸஞ்சயஸங்கடம் ।
மஹர்ஷியக்ஷகந்தர்வ
கிந்நரோரகஸேவிதம் ॥
bahuprasravaṇōpētam
ṡilāsañcayasaṅkaṭam ।
maharṣiyakṣagandharva
kinnarōragasēvitam ॥
It had many streams flowing through
its clusters of boulders nestling with each other.
It was frequented by Maharshis,
Yakshas, Gandharvas, Kinnaras and Uragas.

லதாபாதபஸங்காதம்
ஸிம்ஹாத்யுஷிதகந்தரம் ।
வ்யாக்ரஸங்கஸமாகீர்ணம்
ஸ்வாதுமூலபலத்ருமம் ॥
latāpādapasaṅghātam
siṃhādhyuṣitakandaram ।
vyāghrasaṅghasamākīrṇam
svādumūlaphaladrumam ॥
It was thick with creepers and trees and
its caves were filled with lions.
It was filled with hordes of tigers and
and vegetation yielding delicious roots and fruits.
