    Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 46
In this Sarga, Rāvaṇa learns that the seven sons of ministers were killed by Hanumān. Without letting his true feelings known, he dismisses Hanumān as a creature specially created by Indra with the power of Tapa to take revenge upon him.
He instructs five of his army chiefs to go with an army of four divisions and contain Hanumān, albeit taking care to protect their own person. The army chiefs attack Hanumān, and he kills all of them and their army.

Put forth your efforts to capture him.
This brave Vānara of great prowess
should not be taken for granted by you. Even after Hanumān declaring clearly that he is the envoy of Rāma, Rāvaṇa would not acknowledge it, for it would mean acknowledging his cowardly and shameful act of abducting Seetā in the absence of Rāma, in violation of Dharma. Hence, he tries to frame the development as a revenge against his past victories (over Dēvas and others).
