Sundara Kaanda Sarga 39
Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 39
In this Sarga, seeing Hanumān ready to take leave, Seetā, her voice choked with tears, tells him that everything depends on him alone, as to how he keeps his spirits high and how he propels Rāma and Lakshmaṇa, who are sunken in grief, into action. Hanumān assures her, reminding her of the extraordinary prowess of Rāma and the extraordinary strength of Lakshmaṇa.
Seetā then implores Hanumān to stay for one more day giving her company and keeping the grief away from her. She asks a question that has been nagging her all the while, as to how the Vānara and bear army and, for that matter, the two brothers, would be able to cross the ocean. She then answers her own question saying that Hanumān is capable enough to manage everything. She tells him that she would like to see Rāma come to Laṅkā and destroy it himself with his arrows and take her back with him, displaying his prowess.
Hanumān reassures her, describing in many a word how capable Rāma and Lakshmaṇa and all the Vānaras are, and how everyone among the Vānaras is better than him, or at least as good as him, and how they encircled the earth many times. He tells her that the brothers will come to Laṅkā seated on his back and that the other Vānaras were capable of reaching Laṅkā in one single hop.
He assures her that it is only a matter of time before she sees Rāma, Lakshmaṇa and Vānaras at the gates of Laṅkā, kill the Rakshasas and take her back and implores her to manage herself and bide the time till then.
