Sundara Kaanda Sarga 36
Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 36
In this Sarga, Hanumān gives the ring with the name of Rāma inscribed on it to Seetā. Seeing it, she feels as if it were Rāma himself who has come to her. Then she affectionately praises Hanumān for crossing the hundred Yōjanas-wide ocean and penetrating into the city of Laṅkā all by himself, without the fear of Rāvaṇa.
She inquires once again about the wellbeing of Rāma and hopes that Rāma, Lakshmaṇa and Sugreeva would soon come, and Bharata would send his armies, to free Lanka of Rākshasas.
Hanumān assures her that Rāma would come very soon, destroy the Rākshasas and regain her. He tells that Rāma is equally submerged in grief over her loss, that he does not even sleep well, thinking of her all the time. He assures her that Rāma is making every effort and would lose no time in taking action once he hears of her whereabouts from him.
Seeing the ring and hearing those reassuring words, her face shows the calmness of the early post-monsoon nights well-lit by the moon, but with a few clouds still lingering.
