தவ ஸாநுஷு விஸ்ராந்த:
ஸேஷம் ப்ரக்ரமதாமிதி ।
திஷ்ட த்வம் கபிஸார்தூல
மயி விஸ்ரம்ய கம்யதாம் ॥
tvannimittamanēnāham
bahumānātpracōditaḥ ।
yōjanānāṃ ṡataṃ cāpi
kapirēṣa samāplutaḥ ।
tava sānuṣu viṡrāntaḥ
ṡēṣaṃ prakramatāmiti ।
tiṣṭha tvaṃ kapiṡārdūla
mayi viṡramya gamyatām ॥
For your sake, and out of that great regard,
he urged me, saying, ‘The Vānara is on
a flight of one hundred Yōjanas.
Let him rest on the flanks of your peaks
before proceeding with the rest of the flight.’
Hence, O tiger among Vānaras,
take a break, take rest on me and proceed!

There is plenty of sweet-smelling,
tasty roots, tubers and fruits here.
Please enjoy them, take rest and then
go on, O best of the Vānaras!

kapimukhya tvayā'sti vai ।
prakhyātastriṣu lōkēṣu
mahāguṇaparigrahaḥ ॥
O chief of Vānaras! I have a special relationship
with you that is well known in the three worlds,
which was born out of a celebrated reason.

O son of Vāyu! O elephant among Vānaras!
I count you as the best of the best
among the Vānaras who can fly at great speed.

prākṛtō'pi vijānatā ।
dharmaṃ jijñāsamānēna
kiṃ punastvādṛṡō mahān ॥
A chance guest, even an ordinary one,
is worthy of hospitality by those
who are aware of Dharma or want to practice it.
Then, what to speak of someone like you?

mārutasya mahātmanaḥ ।
putrastasyaiva vēgēna
sadṛṡaḥ kapikuñjara ॥
O elephant among Vānaras!
You are the son of Vāyu,
a Mahātma and the foremost of the Dēvas,
and you are comparable to him in speed!

பூஜாம் ப்ராப்நோதி மாருத: ।

pūjitē tvayi dharmajña
pūjāṃ prāpnōti mārutaḥ ।
tasmāttvaṃ pūjanīyō mē
ṡṛṇu cāpyatra kāraṇam ॥
An honor given to you is
an honor given to Vāyu.
Hence you are worthy of my honor.
And listen to the reason for that.

பர்வதா: பக்ஷிணோऽபவந் ।

parvatāḥ pakṣiṇō'bhavan ।
tē hi jagmurdiṡaḥ sarvā
garuḍānilavēginaḥ ॥
My dear! In the far past, in Kṛta Yuga,
mountains used to have wings.
They used to fly around in all directions
with the speed of Garuḍa and the wind.

தேவஸங்கா: ஸஹர்ஷிபி: ।
பூதாநி ச பயம் ஜக்மு:

dēvasaṅghāḥ saharṣibhiḥ ।
bhūtāni ca bhayaṃ jagmuḥ
tēṣāṃ patanaṡaṅkayā ॥
With them going around thus,
hosts of Dēvas and Ṛshis
and all the creatures were
scared that they might fall.

பர்வதாநாம் ஸதக்ரது: ।

tataḥ kruddhaḥ sahasrākṣaḥ
parvatānāṃ ṡatakratuḥ ।
pakṣān cicchēda vajrēṇa
tatra tatra sahasraṡaḥ ॥
Then the thousand-eyed, who
performed one hundred Yajñas,
was annoyed and cut off
thousands of those wings with Vajra.

வஜ்ரமுத்யம்ய தேவராட் ।
ததோऽஹம் ஸஹஸா க்ஷிப்த:

sa māmupāgataḥ kruddhō
vajramudyamya dēvarāṭ ।
tatō'haṃ sahasā kṣiptaḥ
ṡvasanēna mahātmanā ॥
The King of the Dēvas came to me wielding Vajra.
Then very quickly, (before I was hit),
Vāyu, the Mahātma (saved me) by flinging me away.

ப்ரக்ஷிப்த: ப்லவகோத்தம ।
குப்தபக்ஷஸமக்ரஸ்ச

prakṣiptaḥ plavagōttama ।
guptapakṣasamagraṡca
tava pitrā'bhirakṣata: ॥
O best of Vānaras! Protected thus by your father,
I was safely deposited in this salt water
with my wings completely intact.

மாந்யோ ஹி மம மாருத: ।
த்வயா மே ஹ்யேஷ ஸம்பந்த:

mānyō hi mama mārutaḥ ।
tvayā mē hyēṣa sambandhaḥ
kapimukhya mahāguṇaḥ ॥
I honor you because (your father) Vāyu
is worthy of all honor from me.
Such is the precious bond that unites us,
O chief of Vānaras!

sāgarasya mamaiva ca ।
prītiṃ prītamanāḥ kartum
tvamarhasi mahākapē ॥
O great Vānara! With that being so,
you shall, pleased at heart,
please the ocean and also me.

ṡramaṃ mōkṣaya pūjāṃ ca
gṛhāṇa kapisattama ।
prītiṃ ca bahumanyasva

O best of Vānaras! Accept the hospitality
and refresh yourself from fatigue!
I hope you appreciate the affection!
I am very pleased to have seen you!

manyurēṣō'panīyatām ।
tvaratē kāryakālō mē
ahaṡcāpyativartatē ।
pratijñā ca mayā dattā
na sthātavyamihāntarē ॥
I am pleased with your hospitality.
I hope you will not mistake me.
My task brooks no delay.
The day is already well advanced.
I made a vow that I would not stop on the way.

ālabhya haripuṅgavaḥ ।
jagāmākāṡamāviṡya
vīryavān prahasanniva ॥
Speaking thus and (affectionately)
touching the mountain with his hand,
the heroic bull among Vānaras
rose into the sky with a smile.

bahumānādavēkṣitaḥ ।
pūjitaṡcōpapannābhiḥ
āṡīrbhiranilātmajaḥ ॥
The mountain and the ocean
looked at him with great regard,
and gave that son of Vāyu
all honors and apt blessings.

hitvā ṡailamahārṇavau ।
pituḥ panthānamāsthāya
jagāma vimalē'mbarē ॥
Then, taking leave of
the mountain and the great ocean,
and flying far and high above,
he took to the tracks of his father
and went ahead in the clear sky.

giriṃ tamavalōkayan ।
vāyusūnurnirālambē
jagāma vimalē'mbarē ॥
Gaining higher altitude and
watching the mountain that was way down below,
the son of Vāyu kept flying in
the clear sky where there was no other support.

த்ருஷ்ட்வா கர்ம ஸுதுஷ்கரம் ।

taddvitīyaṃ hanumatō
dṛṣṭvā karma suduṣkaram ।
praṡaṡaṃsuḥ surāḥ sarvē
siddhāṡca paramarṣayaḥ ॥
Seeing Hanumān succeed in
another near impossible task,
all the Dēvas, Siddhas and
great Ṛshis extolled him.

தத்ரஸ்தாஸ்தஸ்ய கர்மணா ।

dēvatāṡcābhavan hṛṣṭāḥ
tatrasthāstasya karmaṇā ।
kāñcanasya sunābhasya
sahasrākṣaṡca vāsavaḥ ॥
The thousand-eyed Vāsava and other Dēvas
who were there, were very pleased
with what that mountain,
whose belly was full of gold, had done.

sunābhaṃ parvataṡrēṣṭham
svayamēva ṡacīpatiḥ ॥
The sagacious lord of Ṡaci,
his voice choked with joy,
personally said to that
supreme mountain of great belly:

parituṣṭō'smi tē bhṛṡam ।
abhayaṃ tē prayacchāmi
tiṣṭha saumya yathāsukham ॥
O lord of Mountains!
O you with belly full of gold!
I am extremely pleased with you.
I assure you of no fear (from me hereafter).
O gentle one, may you be happy!

And the help you have given Hanumān
who is crossing over an intimidating
distance of one hundred Yōjanas
with no fear whatsoever, is commendable.

tatō'haṃ sahasā kṣiptaḥ
ṡvasanēna mahātmanā ॥
The King of the Dēvas came to me wielding Vajra.
Then very quickly, (before I was hit),
Vāyu, the Mahātma (saved me) by flinging me away.

ப்ரக்ஷிப்த: ப்லவகோத்தம ।
குப்தபக்ஷஸமக்ரஸ்ச

prakṣiptaḥ plavagōttama ।
guptapakṣasamagraṡca
tava pitrā'bhirakṣata: ॥
O best of Vānaras! Protected thus by your father,
I was safely deposited in this salt water
with my wings completely intact.

5.1.128 ஈ ததோऽஹம் மாநயாமி த்வாம்
மாந்யோ ஹி மம மாருத: ।
த்வயா மே ஹ்யேஷ ஸம்பந்த:
கபிமுக்ய மஹாகுண: ॥
tatō'haṃ mānayāmi tvām
mānyō hi mama mārutaḥ ।
tvayā mē hyēṣa sambandhaḥ
kapimukhya mahāguṇaḥ ॥
I honor you because (your father) Vāyu
is worthy of all honor from me.
Such is the precious bond that unites us,
O chief of Vānaras!

ஸாகரஸ்ய மமைவ ச ।
ப்ரீதிம் ப்ரீதமநா: கர்தும்

asminnēvaṃgatē kāryē
sāgarasya mamaiva ca ।
prītiṃ prītamanāḥ kartum
tvamarhasi mahākapē ॥
O great Vānara! With that being so,
you shall, pleased at heart,
please the ocean and also me.

5.1.130 ஈ ஸ்ரமம் மோக்ஷய பூஜாம் ச
க்ருஹாண கபிஸத்தம ।
ப்ரீதிம் ச பஹுமந்யஸ்வ
ப்ரீதோऽஸ்மி தவ தர்ஸநாத் ॥
ṡramaṃ mōkṣaya pūjāṃ ca
gṛhāṇa kapisattama ।
prītiṃ ca bahumanyasva
prītō'smi tava darṡanāt ॥
O best of Vānaras! Accept the hospitality
and refresh yourself from fatigue!
I hope you appreciate the affection!
I am very pleased to have seen you!

தம் நகோத்தமமப்ரவீத் ॥

ந ஸ்தாதவ்யமிஹாந்தரே ॥
prītō'smi kṛtamātithyam
manyurēṣō'panīyatām ।
tvaratē kāryakālō mē
ahaṡcāpyativartatē ।
pratijñā ca mayā dattā
na sthātavyamihāntarē ॥
I am pleased with your hospitality.
I hope you will not mistake me.
My task brooks no delay.
The day is already well advanced.
I made a vow that I would not stop on the way.

ஆலப்ய ஹரிபுங்கவ: ।

ityuktvā pāṇinā ṡailam
ālabhya haripuṅgavaḥ ।
jagāmākāṡamāviṡya
vīryavān prahasanniva ॥
Speaking thus and (affectionately)
touching the mountain with his hand,
the heroic bull among Vānaras
rose into the sky with a smile.

பஹுமாநாதவேக்ஷித: ।
பூஜிதஸ்சோபபந்நாபி:

sa parvatasamudrābhyām
bahumānādavēkṣitaḥ ।
pūjitaṡcōpapannābhiḥ
āṡīrbhiranilātmajaḥ ॥
The mountain and the ocean
looked at him with great regard,
and gave that son of Vāyu
all honors and apt blessings.

5.1.135 ஈ அதோர்த்வம் தூரமுத்ப்லுத்ய
ஹித்வா ஸைலமஹார்ணவௌ ।
பிது: பந்தாநமாஸ்தாய

athōrdhvaṃ dūramutplutya
hitvā ṡailamahārṇavau ।
pituḥ panthānamāsthāya
jagāma vimalē'mbarē ॥
Then, taking leave of
the mountain and the great ocean,
and flying far and high above,
he took to the tracks of his father
and went ahead in the clear sky.

5.1.136 ஈ பூயஸ்சோர்த்வம் கதிம் ப்ராப்ய
கிரிம் தமவலோகயந் ।
வாயுஸூநுர்நிராலம்பே

bhūyaṡcōrdhvaṃ gatiṃ prāpya
giriṃ tamavalōkayan ।
vāyusūnurnirālambē
jagāma vimalē'mbarē ॥
Gaining higher altitude and
watching the mountain that was way down below,
the son of Vāyu kept flying in
the clear sky where there was no other support.

5.1.137 ஈ தத்த்விதீயம் ஹநுமதோ
த்ருஷ்ட்வா கர்ம ஸுதுஷ்கரம் ।
ப்ரஸஸம்ஸு: ஸுரா: ஸர்வே
ஸித்தாஸ்ச பரமர்ஷய: ॥
taddvitīyaṃ hanumatō
dṛṣṭvā karma suduṣkaram ।
praṡaṡaṃsuḥ surāḥ sarvē
siddhāṡca paramarṣayaḥ ॥
Seeing Hanumān succeed in
another near impossible task,
all the Dēvas, Siddhas and
great Ṛshis extolled him.

5.1.138 ஈ தேவதாஸ்சாபவந் ஹ்ருஷ்டா:
தத்ரஸ்தாஸ்தஸ்ய கர்மணா ।
காஞ்சநஸ்ய ஸுநாபஸ்ய
ஸஹஸ்ராக்ஷஸ்ச வாஸவ: ॥
dēvatāṡcābhavan hṛṣṭāḥ
tatrasthāstasya karmaṇā ।
kāñcanasya sunābhasya
sahasrākṣaṡca vāsavaḥ ॥
The thousand-eyed Vāsava and other Dēvas
who were there, were very pleased
with what that mountain,
whose belly was full of gold, had done.

பரிதோஷாத்ஸகத்கதம் ।
ஸுநாபம் பர்வதஸ்ரேஷ்டம்
ஸ்வயமேவ ஸசீபதி: ॥
uvāca vacanaṃ dhīmān
paritōṣātsagadgadam ।
sunābhaṃ parvataṡrēṣṭham
svayamēva ṡacīpatiḥ ॥
The sagacious lord of Ṡaci,
his voice choked with joy,
personally said to that
supreme mountain of great belly:

5.1.140 ஈ ஹிரண்யநாப ஸைலேந்த்ர
பரிதுஷ்டோऽஸ்மி தே ப்ருஸம் ।
அபயம் தே ப்ரயச்சாமி
திஷ்ட ஸௌம்ய யதாஸுகம் ॥
hiraṇyanābha ṡailēndra
parituṣṭō'smi tē bhṛṡam ।
abhayaṃ tē prayacchāmi
tiṣṭha saumya yathāsukham ॥
O lord of Mountains!
O you with belly full of gold!
I am extremely pleased with you.
I assure you of no fear (from me hereafter).
O gentle one, may you be happy!

5.1.141 ஈ ஸாஹ்யம் க்ருதம் தே ஸுமஹத்
விக்ராந்தஸ்ய ஹநூமத: ।
க்ரமதோ யோஜநஸதம்
நிர்பயஸ்ய பயே ஸதி ॥
sāhyaṃ kṛtaṃ tē sumahat
vikrāntasya hanūmataḥ ।
kramatō yōjanaṡatam
nirbhayasya bhayē sati ॥
And the help you have given Hanumān
who is crossing over an intimidating
distance of one hundred Yōjanas
with no fear whatsoever, is commendable.
