முக்த்வா புஷ்பாணி தே த்ருமா: ।
அவஸீர்யந்த ஸலிலே
நிவ்ருத்தா: ஸுஹ்ருதோ யதா ॥
vimuktāstasya vēgēna
muktvā puṣpāṇi tē drumāḥ ।
avaṡīryanta salilē
nivṛttāḥ suhṛdō yathā ॥
(Then), freed from the effect
of the drag caused by his speed,
those trees, shedding their flowers,
fell in the water, like friends turning back
(after seeing off a departing friend).

ப்ரபபௌ ஸ மஹார்ணவ: ॥
laghutvēnōpapannaṃ tat
vicitraṃ sāgarē'patat ।
drumāṇāṃ vividhaṃ puṣpam
kapivāyusamīritam ।
tārācitamivākāṡam
prababhau sa mahārṇavaḥ ॥
The flowers of the trees, carried
off by the wind roused by the Vānara,
small in size and varied in color,
fell in the ocean, making that
mighty ocean shine like a starry sky.

பபௌ மேக இவாகாஸே

nānāvarṇēna vānaraḥ ।
babhau mēgha ivākāṡē
vidyudgaṇa vibhūṣitaḥ ॥
And the Vānara, with many flowers
of various colors stuck on his body,
shone like a cloud with streaks of lightning.

புஷ்பைஸ்தோயமத்ருஸ்யத ।

puṣpaistōyamadṛṡyata ।
tārābhirabhirāmābhiḥ
uditābhirivāmbaram ॥
With the flowers flung into the air by his speed
falling on it (one by one), the water
looked (splendid) like the (night) sky when
the lovely stars emerge (one by one).

tasyāmbaragatau bāhū
dadṛṡātē prasāritau ।
parvatāgrādviniṣkrāntau
pañcāsyāviva pannagau ॥
As he sailed across the sky,
his stretched arms looked like
two five-hooded serpents
emerging from the top of a mountain.

ஸோர்மிமாலம் மஹார்ணவம் ।
பிபாஸுரிவ சாகாஸம்

pibanniva babhau cāpi
sōrmimālaṃ mahārṇavam ।
pipāsuriva cākāṡam
dadṛṡē sa mahākapiḥ ॥
It seemed as if he was going to drink up
the great ocean of massive billows.
In the same vein, he looked as if
he wanted to drink up the sky as well.

5.1.59 ஆ தஸ்ய வித்யுத்ப்ரபாகாரே
வாயுமார்காநுஸாரிண: ।
நயநே விப்ரகாஸேதே

vāyumārgānusāriṇaḥ ।
nayanē viprakāṡētē
parvatasthāvivānalau ॥
His eyes, which looked like streaks of lightning,
shone like a pair of conflagrations on a mountain,
as he sailed along in the air.

5.1.60 ஆ பிங்கே பிங்காக்ஷமுக்யஸ்ய
ப்ருஹதீ பரிமண்டலே ।
சக்ஷுஷீ ஸம்ப்ராகாஸேதே
சந்த்ரஸூர்யாவிவோதிதௌ ॥
piṅgē piṅgākṣamukhyasya
bṛhatī parimaṇḍalē ।
cakṣuṣī samprākāṡētē
candrasūryāvivōditau ॥
The round big and yellow eyes of that
chief of yellow eyed (Vānaras)
shone like the sun and the moon risen (at once).

தாம்ரயா தாம்ரமாபபௌ ।

mukhaṃ nāsikayā tasya
tāmrayā tāmramābabhau ।
sandhyayā samabhispṛṣṭam
yathā tatsūryamaṇḍalam ॥
His copper-colored nose against his red face
shone like the sun’s orb against the evening sky.

ப்லவமாநஸ்ய ஸோபதே ।
அம்பரே வாயுபுத்ரஸ்ய

lāṅgūlaṃ ca samāviddham
plavamānasya ṡōbhatē ।
ambarē vāyuputrasya
ṡakradhvaja ivōcchritam ॥
And the erect tail of the son of Vāyu
who was floating across the sky,
looked like the flagstaff of Indra
that was erected upright.

ஸுக்லதம்ஷ்ட்ரோऽநிலாத்மஜ: ।

பரிவேஷீவ பாஸ்கர: ॥
lāṅgūlacakrēṇa mahān
ṡukladaṃṣṭrō'nilātmajaḥ ।
vyarōcata mahāprājñaḥ
parivēṣīva bhāskaraḥ ॥
The son of Vāyu, of strong mind and huge body,
with his white teeth and tail curved over him,
shone like the sun with a halo around him.

rarāja sa mahākapiḥ ।

girirgairikadhātunā ॥
In the area of his immense red hind parts,
The great Vānara shone like a
a riven mountain with a huge area
of its mineral ores exposed to view.

ப்லவமாநஸ்ய ஸாகரம் ।
கக்ஷாந்தரகதோ வாயு:

tasya vānarasiṃhasya
plavamānasya sāgaram ।
kakṣāntaragatō vāyuḥ
jīmūta iva garjati ॥
As that lion among Vānaras
flew fast across the ocean,
the wind rushing through his arm-pits
thundered like a cloud.

5.1.66 ஆ கே யதா நிபதத்யுல்கா-
ஹ்யுத்தராந்தாத்விநி:ஸ்ருதா ।
த்ருஸ்யதே ஸாநுபந்தா ச
ததா ஸ கபிகுஞ்ஜர: ॥
khē yathā nipatatyulkā-
hyuttarāntādviniḥsṛtā ।
dṛṡyatē sānubandhā ca
tathā sa kapikuñjaraḥ ॥
That elephant among Vānaras
looked like a meteor fast approaching
somewhere from the northerly direction,
appearing like a single streak.

5.1.67 ஆ பதத்பதங்கஸங்காஸோ
வ்யாயத: ஸுஸுபே கபி: ।
ப்ரவ்ருத்த இவ மாதங்க:
கக்ஷ்யயா பத்யமாநயா ॥
patatpataṅgasaṅkāṡō
vyāyataḥ ṡuṡubhē kapiḥ ।
pravṛddha iva mātaṅgaḥ
kakṣyayā badhyamānayā ॥
The long (tall) Vānara
who was speeding like the sun
shone like a tusker that appeared
to have grown in size with
the girdle tied to its waist.

5.1.68 ஆ உபரிஷ்டாச்சரீரேண
சாயயா சாவகாடயா ।
ஸாகரே மாருதாவிஷ்டா
நௌரிவாஸீத்ததா கபி: ॥

chāyayā cāvagāḍhayā ।
sāgarē mārutāviṣṭā
naurivāsīttadā kapiḥ ॥
(The combination) of his body up there
and his shadow down below in the ocean (moving),
looked like a ship sailing with the wind.

5.1.69 ஆ யம் யம் தேஸம் ஸமுத்ரஸ்ய
ஜகாம ஸ மஹாகபி: ।
ஸ ஸ தஸ்யோருவேகேந
ஸோந்மாத இவ லக்ஷ்யதே ॥
yaṃ yaṃ dēṡaṃ samudrasya
jagāma sa mahākapiḥ ।
sa sa tasyōruvēgēna
sōnmāda iva lakṣyatē ॥
Everywhere in the ocean where the
great Vānara flew, the waters were
stirred violently from the speed of his thighs.

5.1.70 ஆ ஸாகரஸ்யோர்மிஜாலாநாம்
உரஸா ஸைலவர்ஷ்மணாம் ।
அபிக்நம்ஸ்து மஹாவேக:
புப்லுவே ஸ மஹாகபி: ॥
sāgarasyōrmijālānām
urasā ṡailavarṣmaṇām ।
abhighnaṃstu mahāvēgaḥ
pupluvē sa mahākapiḥ ॥
Tearing apart the crests of waves
that arose from the ocean like mountains
with his chest in his great speed,
the great Vānara kept flying.

5.1.71 ஆ கபிவாதஸ்ச பலவாந்
மேகவாதஸ்ச நி:ஸ்ருத: ।
ஸாகரம் பீமநிர்கோஷம்
கம்பயாமாஸதுர்ப்ருஸம் ॥
kapivātaṡca balavān
mēghavātaṡca niḥsṛtaḥ ।
sāgaraṃ bhīmanirghōṣam
kampayāmāsaturbhṛṡam ॥
The fierce wind raised by the mighty Vānara,
together with the wind that
sent the clouds scurrying
put the ocean of terrifying roar in a deep turmoil.

5.1.72 ஆ விகர்ஷந்நூர்மிஜாலாநி
ப்ருஹந்தி லவணாம்பஸி ।
புப்லுவே கபிஸார்தூலோ

vikarṣannūrmijālāni
bṛhanti lavaṇāmbhasi ।
pupluvē kapiṡārdūlō
vikiranniva rōdasī ॥
As he flew, dragging the rows of giant waves
of the salty ocean along with him,
that tiger among Vānaras seemed
to fill the entire space between
the earth and the sky.

5.1.73 ஆ மேருமந்தரஸங்காஸாந்
உத்ததாந் ஸ மஹார்ணவே ।
அத்யக்ராமந்மஹாவேக:
தரங்காந் கணயந்நிவ ॥
mērumandarasaṅkāṡān
uddhatān sa mahārṇavē ।
atyakrāmanmahāvēgaḥ
taraṅgān gaṇayanniva ॥
As he of terrific speed passed by
each wave that arose from the great ocean
resembling the Mēru and Mandara mountains,
it seemed as if he was counting them.

5.1.74 ஆ தஸ்ய வேகஸமுத்தூதம்
ஜலம் ஸஜலதம் ததா ।
அம்பரஸ்தம் விபப்ராஜ

tasya vēgasamuddhūtam
jalaṃ sajaladaṃ tadā ।
ambarasthaṃ vibabhrāja
ṡāradābhramivātatam ॥
Then, the water thrown up (from the ocean)
by the force of his speed,
joined the clouds in the sky
and shone splendidly, itself
looking like a post-monsoon cloud.

5.1.75 ஆ திமிநக்ரஜஷா: கூர்மா
த்ருஸ்யந்தே விவ்ருதாஸ்ததா ।
வஸ்த்ராபகர்ஷணேநேவ

timinakrajhaṣāḥ kūrmā
dṛṡyantē vivṛtāstadā ।
vastrāpakarṣaṇēnēva
ṡarīrāṇi ṡarīriṇām ॥
Whales, crocodiles, fish and turtle
were exposed to view, like the bodies
of people when their clothes are pulled off.

5.1.76 ஆ ப்லவமாநம் ஸமீக்ஷ்யாத
புஜங்கா: ஸாகராலயா: ।
வ்யோம்நி தம் கபிஸார்தூலம்
ஸுபர்ண இதி மேநிரே ॥
plavamānaṃ samīkṣyātha
bhujaṅgāḥ sāgarālayāḥ ।
vyōmni taṃ kapiṡārdūlam
suparṇa iti mēnirē ॥
The serpents in the ocean mistook
that tiger among Vānaras for Suparṇa
when they saw him fly in the sky.

5.1.77 ஆ தஸயோஜநவிஸ்தீர்ணா
த்ரிம்ஸத்யோஜநமாயதா ।
சாயா வாநரஸிம்ஹஸ்ய

daṡayōjanavistīrṇā
triṃṡadyōjanamāyatā ।
chāyā vānarasiṃhasya
jalē cārutarā'bhavat ॥
The ten-Yōjana wide and thirty-Yōjana long
shadow of that lion among Vānaras
on the water was simply amazing!

வாயுபுத்ராநுகாமிநீ ।
தஸ்ய ஸா ஸுஸுபே சாயா

vāyuputrānugāminī ।
tasya sā ṡuṡubhē chāyā
vitatā lavaṇāmbhasi ॥
The shadow that followed the son of Vāyu
spreading over the salty ocean,
shone like a compact mass of pure white clouds.

மஹாகாயோ மஹாகபி: ।
வாயுமார்கே நிராலம்பே

mahākāyō mahākapiḥ ।
vāyumārgē nirālambē
pakṣavāniva parvataḥ ॥
The extremely powerful great Vānara of
gigantic body shone like a winged mountain,
floating in the air without support.

வேகேந கபிகுஞ்ஜர: ।
தேந மார்கேண ஸஹஸா

vēgēna kapikuñjaraḥ ।
tēna mārgēṇa sahasā
drōṇīkṛta ivārṇavaḥ ॥
A trough formed instantly
in the waters of the ocean
along the path that the
mighty elephant among Vānaras flew past.

5.1.81 ஆ ஆபாதே பக்ஷிஸங்காநாம்
பக்ஷிராஜ இவ வ்ரஜந் ।
ஹநுமாந் மேகஜாலாநி

āpātē pakṣisaṅghānām
pakṣirāja iva vrajan ।
hanumān mēghajālāni
prakarṣan mārutō yathā ॥
Flying along the tracks of the birds
as if he was the king of the birds,
Hanumān dragged banks of clouds
along with him, as if he was Vāyu.

5.1.82 ஆ பாண்டுராருணவர்ணாநி
நீலமாஞ்ஜிஷ்டகாநி ச ।
கபிநாக்ருஷ்யமாணாநி

pāṇḍurāruṇavarṇāni
nīlamāñjiṣṭhakāni ca ।
kapinākṛṣyamāṇāni
mahābhrāṇi cakāṡirē ॥
The great clouds thus dragged by the Vānara
were splendid in their (varied) hues of
white, red, black and yellow.
