    Kishkindha Kaanda - Sarga 29
    In this Sarga, after the monsoon season passes, seeing Sugreeva indulging himself in the inner quarters with the womenfolk without even attending the affairs of the state, Hanuman approaches him and reminds him of the favor he owes Rāma.
    Hanuman reminds him of the great friendship he forged with such a powerful person as Rāma and tells him that he should do everything possible to keep that friendship and return the favor of Rāma. Hanuman tells him that he should immediately make arrangements for the search of Seetā. He tells Sugreeva that Rāma would be anxiously waiting to hear from him and that he should command the Vānaras to do whatever was needed before Rāma came asking for it.
    4.29.1-9a ஸமீக்ஷ்ய விமலம் வ்யோம
    கதவித்யுத்வலாஹகம் ।
    ஸாரஸாகுலஸங்குஷ்டம்
    ரம்யஜ்யோத்ஸ்நாநுலேபநம் ।
    ஸம்ருத்தார்தம் ச ஸுக்ரீவம்
    மந்ததர்மார்தஸங்க்ரஹம் ।
    அத்யர்தமஸதாம் மார்கம்
    ஏகாந்தகதமாநஸம் ।
    நிர்வ்ருத்தகார்யம் ஸித்தார்தம்
    ப்ரமதாபிரதம் ஸதா ।
    ப்ராப்தவந்தமபிப்ரேதாந்
    ஸர்வாநேவ மநோரதாந் ।
    ஸ்வாம் ச பத்நீமபிப்ரேதாம்
    தாராம் சாபி ஸமீப்ஸிதாம் ।
    விஹரந்தமஹோராத்ரம்
    க்ருதார்தம் விகதஜ்வரம் ।
    க்ரீடந்தமிவ தேவேஸம்
    நந்தநேऽப்ஸரஸாம் கணை: ।
    மந்த்ரிஷு ந்யஸ்தகார்யம் ச
    மந்த்ரிணாமநவேக்ஷகம் ।
    உத்ஸந்நராஜ்யஸந்தேஸம்
    காமவ்ருத்தமவஸ்திதம் ।
    நிஸ்சிதார்தோऽர்ததத்த்வஜ்ஞ:
    காலதர்மவிஸேஷவித் ।
    ப்ரஸாத்ய வாக்யைர்விவிதை:
    ஹேதுமத்பிர்மநோரமை: ।
    வாக்யவித்வாக்ய தத்த்வஜ்ஞம்
    ஹரீஸம் மாருதாத்மஜ: ।
    ஹிதம் தத்யம் ச பத்யம் ச
    ஸாமதர்மார்தநீதிமத் ।
    ப்ரணயப்ரீதிஸம்யுக்தம்
    விஸ்வாஸக்ருதநிஸ்சயம் ।
    ஹரீஸ்வரமுபாகம்ய
    ஹநூமாந்வாக்யமப்ரவீத் ॥
    samīkṣya vimalaṃ vyōma
    gatavidyudvalāhakam ।
    sārasākulasaṅghuṣṭam
    ramyajyōtsnānulēpanam ।
    samṛddhārthaṃ ca sugrīvam
    mandadharmārthasaṅgraham ।
    atyarthamasatāṃ mārgam
    ēkāntagatamānasam ।
    nirvṛttakāryaṃ siddhārtham
    pramadābhirataṃ sadā ।
    prāptavantamabhiprētān
    sarvānēva manōrathān ।
    svāṃ ca patnīmabhiprētām
    tārāṃ cāpi samīpsitām ।
    viharantamahōrātram
    kṛtārthaṃ vigatajvaram ।
    krīḍantamiva dēvēṡam
    nandanē'psarasāṃ gaṇaiḥ ।
    mantriṣu nyastakāryaṃ ca
    mantriṇāmanavēkṣakam ।
    utsannarājyasandēṡam
    kāmavṛttamavasthitam ।
    niṡcitārthō'rthatattvajñaḥ
    kāladharmaviṡēṣavit ।
    prasādya vākyairvividhaiḥ
    hētumadbhirmanōramaiḥ ।
    vākyavidvākya tattvajñam
    harīṡaṃ mārutātmajaḥ ।
    hitaṃ tathyaṃ ca pathyaṃ ca
    sāmadharmārthanītimat ।
    praṇayaprītisaṃyuktam
    viṡvāsakṛtaniṡcayam ।
    harīṡvaramupāgamya
    hanūmānvākyamabravīt ॥
    (In due course), the sky became clear and
    clouds and lightning became a thing of the past.
    The sky resounded with the cries of the Sārasa cranes
    and was treated with a coat of delightful moonlight.
    But Sugreeva, having gained opulence,
    became relaxed about the demands of Artha and Dharma.
    Having realized all that he wished for,
    indulging himself with women,
    including his own wife whom he longed for
    and also Tara that he wished for,
    he stopped attending to the affairs (of the state)
    and took to the ways of the ignoble,
    drawn to spending time alone.
    With his objects accomplished and
    with all the hardships behind him,
    he spent days and nights in dalliance,
    like the lord of Dēvas sporting
    with the Apsarasas in Nandana.
    With all the concerns about the kingdom allayed,
    he left all the affairs of the state to the ministers
    and did not even care to supervise them
    adopting a care-free lifestyle.
    Then, Hanuman, the son of Vāyu, who
    had a clear eye on what needed to be done,
    was adept in the science of polity and
    especially sensitive to the demands of Dharma and time,
    approached that lord of Vānaras,
    and being adept with his words,
    he gained the pleasure of the king
    with many a charming and reasonable word.
    Then he said to the king who was given to sensible advice,
    these beneficial, truthful and palatable words,
    considering Dharma, Artha, conciliation and polity,
    showing all his affection, concern and
    the confidence that was reposed in him:
    4.29.9b-10a ராஜ்யம் ப்ராப்தம் யஸஸ்சைவ
    கௌலீ ஸ்ரீரபிவர்திதா ।
    மித்ராணாம் ஸங்க்ரஹஸ்ஸேஷ:
    தம் பவாந்கர்துமர்ஹதி ॥
    rājyaṃ prāptaṃ yaṡaṡcaiva
    kaulī ṡrīrabhivardhitā ।
    mitrāṇāṃ saṅgrahaṡṡēṣaḥ
    taṃ bhavānkartumarhati ॥
    You have obtained the kingdom and won reputation.
    The welfare of the dynasty is established.
    What remains to be done is the firm securing of friends,
    to which you should attend now.
    4.29.10b-11a யோ ஹி மித்ரேஷு காலஜ்ஞ:
    ஸததம் ஸாது வர்ததே ।
    தஸ்ய ராஜ்யம் ச கீர்திஸ்ச
    ப்ரதாபஸ்சாऽபிவர்ததே ॥
    yō hi mitrēṣu kālajñaḥ
    satataṃ sādhu vartatē ।
    tasya rājyaṃ ca kīrtiṡca
    pratāpaṡcā'bhivardhatē ॥
    He who cares for continued, timely
    and meaningful relationship with allies,
    would see his kingdom, renown and valor prosper.
    4.29.11b-12a யஸ்ய கோஸஸ்ச தண்டஸ்ச
    மித்ராண்யாத்மா ச பூமிப ।
    ஸமவேதாநி ஸர்வாணி
    ஸ ராஜ்யம் மஹதஸ்நுதே ॥
    yasya kōṡaṡca daṇḍaṡca
    mitrāṇyātmā ca bhūmipa ।
    samavētāni sarvāṇi
    sa rājyaṃ mahadaṡnutē ॥
    O lord of the earth! He who has all his
    treasury, army and allies managed equally well,
    enjoys a great realm.
    4.29.12b-13a தத்பவாந்வ்ருத்தஸம்பந்ந:
    ஸ்தித: பதி நிரத்யயே ।
    மித்ரார்தமபிநீதார்தம்
    யதாவத்கர்துமர்ஹதி ॥
    tadbhavānvṛttasampannaḥ
    sthitaḥ pathi niratyayē ।
    mitrārthamabhinītārtham
    yathāvatkartumarhati ॥
    Therefore you, who had a
    cherished record of good character,
    should stick to the safe and secure course
    and see to it that the promise
    you made to your friend is fulfilled.
    4.29.13b-14a ஸந்த்யஜ்ய ஸர்வகர்மாணி
    மித்ரார்தே யோऽநுவர்ததே ।
    ஸம்ப்ரமாத்தி க்ருதோத்ஸாஹ:
    ஸோऽநர்தைர்நாவருத்யதே ॥
    santyajya sarvakarmāṇi
    mitrārthē yō'nuvartatē ।
    sambhramāddhi kṛtōtsāhaḥ
    sō'narthairnāvarudhyatē ॥
    He who does not set aside everything else
    to expeditiously attend to the objects of an ally
    will (soon) find himself facing adversities.
    4.29.14b-15a யஸ்து காலவ்யதீதேஷு
    மித்ரகார்யேஷு வர்ததே ।
    ஸ க்ருத்வா மஹதோऽப்யர்தாந்
    ந மித்ரார்தேந யுஜ்யதே ॥
    yastu kālavyatītēṣu
    mitrakāryēṣu vartatē ।
    sa kṛtvā mahatō'pyarthān
    na mitrārthēna yujyatē ॥
    Regardless of however many other objects one may accomplish,
    one would not be credited for helping allies,
    if he delays in attending to their objects.
    4.29.15b-16a ததிதம் மித்ரகார்யம் தே
    காலாதீதமரிந்தம ।
    க்ரியதாம் ராகவஸ்யைதத்
    வைதேஹ்யா: பரிமார்கணம் ॥
    tadidaṃ mitrakāryaṃ tē
    kālātītamarindama ।
    kriyatāṃ rāghavasyaitat
    vaidēhyāḥ parimārgaṇam ॥
    The favor that you owe your friend is overdue.
    The search for Seetā, for the sake of Rāma,
    should be commenced right away.
    4.29.16b-17a ந ச காலமதீதம் தே
    நிவேதயதி காலவித் ।
    த்வரமாணோऽபி ஸந்ப்ராஜ்ஞ:
    தவ ராஜந்வஸாநுக: ॥
    na ca kālamatītaṃ tē
    nivēdayati kālavit ।
    tvaramāṇō'pi sanprājñaḥ
    tava rājanvaṡānugaḥ ॥
    Even though it is overdue on your part,
    and even though he knows it and is anxious about it,
    he, being the patient and composed one that he is
    and being dependent on you,
    has not brought it up (yet).
    4.29.17b-18a குலஸ்ய ஹேது: ஸ்பீதஸ்ய
    தீர்கபந்துஸ்ச ராகவ: ।
    அப்ரமேயப்ரபாவஸ்ச
    ஸ்வயம் சாப்ரதிமோ குணை: ॥
    kulasya hētuḥ sphītasya
    dīrghabandhuṡca rāghavaḥ ।
    apramēyaprabhāvaṡca
    svayaṃ cāpratimō guṇaiḥ ॥
    Rāghava is the basis for your (regaining) the dynasty.
    He is a well-wisher, now and forever.
    His prowess is measureless and
    he has no second in his virtues.
    4.29.18b-19a தஸ்ய த்வம் குரு வை கார்யம்
    பூர்வம் தேந க்ருதம் தவ ।
    ஹரீஸ்வர கபிஸ்ரேஷ்டாந்
    ஆஜ்ஞாபயிதுமர்ஹஸி ॥
    tasya tvaṃ kuru vai kāryam
    pūrvaṃ tēna kṛtaṃ tava ।
    harīṡvara kapiṡrēṣṭhān
    ājñāpayitumarhasi ॥
    You should do what he wants to be done,
    as he did what you wanted in the past.
    Set the best among the Vānaras
    on this business, O King of Vānaras!
