3.5.25 தஸ்ய பாதௌ ச ஸங்க்ருஹ்ய
ராமஸ்ஸீதா ச லக்ஷ்மண: ।
நிஷேதுஸ்ததநுஜ்ஞாதா
லப்தவாஸா நிமந்த்ரிதா: ॥
tasya pādau ca saṅgṛhya
rāmassītā ca lakṣmaṇaḥ ।
niṣēdustadanujñātā
labdhavāsā nimantritāḥ ॥
Rāma, Seetā and Lakshmaṇa touched his feet.
They were offered lodging and hospitality.
Then they took seats as directed.
3.5.26 ததஸ்ஸக்ரோபயாநம் து
பர்யப்ருச்சத ராகவ: ।
ஸரபங்கஸ்ச தத்ஸர்வம்
ராகவாய ந்யவேதயத் ॥
tataṡṡakrōpayānaṃ tu
paryapṛcchata rāghavaḥ ।
ṡarabhaṅgaṡca tatsarvaṃ
rāghavāya nyavēdayat ॥
Rāghava then inquired about Ṡakra's visit.
Ṡarabhaṅga told all about it to Rāghava:
3.5.27 மாமேஷ வரதோ ராம
ப்ரஹ்மலோகம் நிநீஷதி ।
ஜிதமுக்ரேண தபஸா
துஷ்ப்ராபமக்ருதாத்மபி: ॥
māmēṣa varadō rāma
brahmalōkaṃ ninīṣati ।
jitamugrēṇa tapasā
duṣprāpamakṛtātmabhiḥ ॥
He, the bestower of boons, wants to take me,
O Rāma, to the abode of Brahma, entry to which
is impossible for those who have not realized Self,
which I have earned by severe Tapa.
3.5.28 அஹம் ஜ்ஞாத்வா நரவ்யாக்ர
வர்தமாநமதூரத: ।
ப்ரஹ்மலோகம் ந கச்சாமி
த்வாமத்ருஷ்ட்வா ப்ரியாதிதிம் ॥
ahaṃ jñātvā naravyāghra
vartamānamadūrataḥ ।
brahmalōkaṃ na gacchāmi
tvāmadṛṣṭvā priyātithim ॥
O tiger among men! But I, having come to know
that you are not too far away (from here),
did not (want to) go to the abode of Brahma,
without seeing you, my beloved guest.
3.5.29 த்வயாऽஹம் புருஷவ்யாக்ர
தார்மிகேண மஹாத்மநா ।
ஸமாகம்ய கமிஷ்யாமி
த்ரிதிவம் சாவரம் பரம் ॥
tvayā'haṃ puruṣavyāghra
dhārmikēṇa mahātmanā ।
samāgamya gamiṣyāmi
tridivaṃ cāvaraṃ param ॥
I shall go to the ultimate of heavens,
after meeting with you,
O Mahatma, O Dhārmika, O tiger among men!
3.5.30 அக்ஷயா நரஸார்தூல
ஜிதா லோகா மயா ஸுபா: ।
ப்ராஹ்ம்யாஸ்ச நாகப்ருஷ்ட்யாஸ்ச
ப்ரதிக்ருஹ்ணீஷ்வ மாமகாந் ॥
akṣayā naraṡārdūla
jitā lōkā mayā ṡubhāḥ ।
brāhmyāṡca nākapṛṣṭhyāṡca
pratigṛhṇīṣva māmakān ॥
O tiger among men! I have won (the right to)
infinite of the auspicious worlds of Brahma and the Heaven.
They are mine, and please accept them.
3.5.31 ஏவமுக்தோ நரவ்யாக்ர:
ஸர்வஸாஸ்த்ர விஸாரத: ।
ருஷிணா ஸரபங்கேண
ராகவோ வாக்யமப்ரவீத் ॥
ēvamuktō naravyāghraḥ
sarvaṡāstra viṡāradaḥ ।
ṛṣiṇā ṡarabhaṅgēṇa
rāghavō vākyamabravīt ॥
Thus told by Ṛshi Ṡarabhaṅga,
Rāghava, the tiger among men,
who was well-versed in every Ṡastra, said these words:
3.5.32 அஹமேவாஹரிஷ்யாமி
ஸர்வாம்ல்லோகாந்மஹாமுநே ।
ஆவாஸம் த்வஹமிச்சாமி
ப்ரதிஷ்டமிஹ காநநே ॥
ahamēvāhariṣyāmi
sarvāṃllōkānmahāmunē ।
āvāsaṃ tvahamicchāmi
pradiṣṭamiha kānanē ॥
O great Muni! I shall attain
all those worlds with my own efforts!
For now, I just want a place to live
in this Vana, that you might show.
3.5.33 ராகவேணைவமுக்தஸ்து
ஸக்ரதுல்யபலேந வை ।
ஸரபங்கோ மஹாப்ராஜ்ஞ:
புநரேவாப்ரவீத்வச: ॥
rāghavēṇaivamuktastu
ṡakratulyabalēna vai ।
ṡarabhaṅgō mahāprājñaḥ
punarēvābravīdvacaḥ ॥
Thus asked by Rāghava, whose prowess rivaled that of Ṡakra,
the omniscient Ṡarabhaṅga again said these words:
3.5.34 இஹ ராம மஹாதேஜா:
ஸுதீக்ஷ்ணோ நாம தார்மிக: ।
வஸத்யரண்யே தர்மாத்மா
ஸ தே ஸ்ரேயோ விதாஸ்யதி ॥
iha rāma mahātējāḥ
sutīkṣṇō nāma dhārmikaḥ ।
vasatyaraṇyē dharmātmā
sa tē ṡrēyō vidhāsyati ॥
In this forest, O Rāma, lives the supremely radiant
and self-controlled Suteekshṇa, a Dhārmika,
who will advise you as to what is best for you.
3.5.35 ஸுதீக்ஷ்ணமபிகச்ச த்வம்
ஸுசௌ தேஸே தபஸ்விநம் ।
ரமணீயே வநோத்தேஸே
ஸ தே வாஸம் விதாஸ்யதி ॥
sutīkṣṇamabhigaccha tvaṃ
ṡucau dēṡē tapasvinam ।
ramaṇīyē vanōddēṡē
sa tē vāsaṃ vidhāsyati ॥
Approach Suteekshṇa the Tapasvi in his holy place.
He shall arrange for an enchanting
place in this Vana for you to live.
3.5.36 இமாம் மந்தாகிநீம் ராம
ப்ரதிஸ்ரோதாமநுவ்ரஜ ।
நதீம் புஷ்போடுபவஹாம்
ததஸ்தத்ர கமிஷ்யஸி ॥
imāṃ mandākinīṃ rāma
pratisrōtāmanuvraja ।
nadīṃ puṣpōḍupavahāṃ
tatastatra gamiṣyasi ॥
Go, O Rāma, up the course of this river Mandākini,
on which bunches of flowers glide like boats.
Then you will reach that place.
3.5.37 ஏஷ பந்தா நரவ்யாக்ர
முஹூர்தம் பஸ்ய தாத மாம் ।
யாவஜ்ஜஹாமி காத்ராணி
ஜீர்ணாம் த்வசமிவோரக: ॥
ēṣa panthā naravyāghra
muhūrtaṃ paṡya tāta mām ।
yāvajjahāmi gātrāṇi
jīrṇāṃ tvacamivōragaḥ ॥
O tiger among men! This is the path!
But stay for a moment, my child,
till I discard this body, as
a snake sloughs off its withered skin.
3.5.38 ததோऽக்நிம் ஸ ஸமாதாய
ஹுத்வா சாஜ்யேந மந்த்ரவித் ।
ஸரபங்கோ மஹாதேஜா:
ப்ரவிவேஸ ஹுதாஸநம் ॥
tatō'gniṃ sa samādhāya
hutvā cājyēna mantravit ।
ṡarabhaṅgō mahātējāḥ
pravivēṡa hutāṡanam ॥
Then the supremely radiant Ṡarabhaṅga
kindled the fire, performed Hōma
by pouring oblations of ghee along with the mantras,
and entered the fire that takes in everything.
3.5.39 தஸ்ய ரோமாணி கேஸாம்ஸ்ச
ததா வஹ்நிர்மஹாத்மந: ।
ஜீர்ணாம் த்வசம் ததாऽஸ்தீநி
யச்ச மாம்ஸம் ஸஸோணிதம் ॥
tasya rōmāṇi kēṡāṃṡca
tadā vahnirmahātmanaḥ ।
jīrṇāṃ tvacaṃ tathā'sthīni
yacca māṃsaṃ saṡōṇitam ॥
Then the fire gulped the Mahātma, starting from his hair,
locks, withered skin, flesh, blood all the way to the bones.
3.5.40 ஸ ச பாவகஸங்காஸ:
குமாரஸ்ஸமபத்யத ।
உத்தாயாக்நிசயாத்தஸ்மாத்
ஸரபங்கோ வ்யரோசத ॥
sa ca pāvakasaṅkāṡaḥ
kumārassamapadyata ।
utthāyāgnicayāttasmāt
ṡarabhaṅgō vyarōcata ॥
Then Ṡarabhaṅga, (pure) like fire
rose from the fire, transformed
into a youth of dazzling splendor.
3.5.41 ஸ லோகாநாஹிதாக்நீநாம்
ருஷீணாம் ச மஹாத்மநாம் ।
தேவாநாம் ச வ்யதிக்ரம்ய
ப்ரஹ்மலோகம் வ்யரோஹத ॥
sa lōkānāhitāgnīnāṃ
ṛṣīṇāṃ ca mahātmanām ।
dēvānāṃ ca vyatikramya
brahmalōkaṃ vyarōhata ॥
And passing beyond the worlds to
which go performers of fire-rites,
Mahātmas, Ṛshis and Dēvas,
he ascended to the world of Brahma.
3.5.42 ஸ புண்யகர்மா புவநே த்விஜர்ஷப:
பிதாமஹம் ஸாநுசரம் ததர்ஸ ஹ ।
பிதாமஹஸ்சாபி ஸமீக்ஷ்ய தம் த்விஜம்
நநந்த ஸுஸ்வாகதமித்யுவாச ஹ ॥
sa puṇyakarmā bhuvanē dvijarṣabhaḥ
pitāmahaṃ sānucaraṃ dadarṡa ha ।
pitāmahaṡcāpi samīkṣya taṃ dvijaṃ
nananda susvāgatamityuvāca ha ॥
He, the bull among Brāhmaṇas,
who had done many deeds of Puṇya,
saw the Grandsire in his abode
in the midst of his court.
And the Grandsire also was delighted,
to see that Brāhmaṇa and said, ‘Welcome!'
இத்யார்ஷே வால்மீகீயே
ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணே ஆதிகாவ்யே
அரண்யகாண்டே பஞ்சம: ஸர்க: ॥
ityārṣē vālmīkīyē
ṡrīmadrāmāyaṇē ādikāvyē
araṇyakāṇḍē pañcamaḥ sargaḥ ॥
Thus concludes the fifth Sarga
in Araṇya Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa,
the first ever poem of humankind,
composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki.
