Yuddha Kaanda Sargas 86
Yuddha Kaanda - Sarga 86
In this Sarga, Vibheeshaṇa advises Lakshmaṇa that he should first try to tear apart the Rākshasa forces, which would force Indrajit to come out. Lakshmaṇa, accordingly, leads the Vānara forces to assault the Rākshasa forces. There ensues a tumultuous battle between the two forces.
On hearing that the morale of his army is weakened, Indrajit comes out without completing the rite. Meanwhile, Hanumān, hurling huge trees, wreaks havoc on the Rākshasa forces. Then the Rākshasas attack Hanumān from all sides, striking him with every kind of weapon. Hanumān puts up a stiff fight with them. Indrajit then takes on Hanumān, showering arrows and other weapons.
Meanwhile Vibheeshaṇa alerts Lakshmaṇa, saying that Indrajit is aiming to kill Hanumān and Lakshmaṇa should intervene and kill Indrajit.
