What is the difference between Upanyasam and Kalakshebham?

Nowadays very seldom one hears Kalakshebham in any Temples, but many Upanyasams are held from time to time; there was a time when a katha Kalakshebham scene was a must in Tamil Movies, but this great tradition is slowly vanishing from our culture; Kindly let us know the difference between Upanyasam and Kalakshebham and what are the rules and guidelines if any for using these terms when one performs either of these two?

There are three things :

1. Upanyasam - literally means placing near (God !).this is a literal discourse

2. Hari katha kalakshepam - discourse combined with music and pakka (side) vidhyam like violin and mrithangam performed by scholars with knowledge of Puranas and music.

3. Kalakshepam - done by a learned acharya to his close disciples in a private atmosphere ( not public) about sriman
narayana, saranagathi etc

Upanyasam is nothing but an ancient method of chanting slokas with anecdotes
explaining the incidents of spiritual events in Hinduism as a whole viz. taking references
of our famous Puranas viz. Ramayana, Mahabharatham, all Bhagavata Puranas like
Narayaneeyam with a commentary, to be taken into note of by the present day generation.

In Katha Kalakshepam, the narrator render discourses interpreting the religious
and mythological texts of the past to the present and future generations in
religious scriptures with musical ability. Pravachanam, Patakam, Prasangam,
Upanyasam, Kalakshepa, Harikeerthan, Villupattu, etc are more or less
identical and similar. In the sense, they are nothing but interpretations and
religious story selling on religious scriptures. But the narrators have their
own style and method of doing it attracting the audience by their skill in
slokas, music and explanations.
