60th birthday

[I]Swamin,
A friend of mine,an Iyengar is nearing his 60th birthday. Star is AYILYAM. I find that it is on 2 days.31 Dec and on 1 Jan. On 1 Jan it is for 10.54 nazhigai I presume
Kindly advice when to do pooja/archana etc for the 60 birthday. He wants it to be a low key affair.

Sri:
It is better choosing the previous day (31st December) which is having the longest duration of the Star
The next day the Star is not present for barest minimum duration (12 Nazhigai).
