My answer:
Namaskaram,
A person has to do things as seer only for his sisters and daughters and their children.
Yethir seer (seer given by bridegroom side) is a return respect as acknowledgement.
In all other occasions it is as normal as any other persons.
The value of things will vary according to dearness between persons.
