I have a doubt in vadakalai sandhya vandanam. I am attaching copy of the related page where astakshara japam has to be done (mentioned in the book - marked). Apart from gayathri japam, what is astakshara japam, I am unable to understand. Shall be very much thankful if you could explain.

that should not be told via email or phone by someone
You go to your Acharyan and ask this question
he is the only person authorized to do upadesam to you at the first time.
