How come that Gayatri Japam comes almost a month before Avani Avittam?
Can some light be thrown on this? Thanks.

Sri:
There is no relation between Upakarma and Gayathri Japam both are different anushtana karma
but usually they took place in the successive dates due to the conditions / specifications of those karmas.

Mostly Gayathri Japam karma will not be shifted to other dates due to dhoshams
but Upakarma will be shifted to another date for some kind of dhoshams like :
1) Sankramanam - Masappirappu
2) Grahanam on that day
and some other conditions too.
