The sankalpam for the third Poonal is:
"UdhiriyArtham trudiya yajnopaveeta dharaNam karishye"
I am wearing the third poonal in the place of udhdhiriyam - because as per shastras
a gruhastan should wear three vastrams
1. Katcham (means worn at the hip)
2. Top (mel) vastram to cover the top portion of the body while not doing vaideekam
it should be tied around the katcham while doing vaideeka karma.
3. The tridiya vastram is called Udhdhiriyam which should be used for additional purposes
of vaideeka like hiding the hands behind the udhdhiriyam while doing Gayatri Japam.
