Dear Sri Kaushik,

Welcome to the forum.
We in South follow the religious rituals as prescribed in the gruhya sutras ( Apastamba, Bodayana etc) that we follow. Of course the local traditions (which differ from place to place) are intermixed while celebrating the rituals.
