Sri MAHISHASURA MARDINI Temple - VAAL VACCHA GOSHTAM - III
Some inferences.
( 1). The inscription on the south side wall of the srikovil
says that this temple was constructed in the year A.D.1234 by one Aranga nayagam
from a place named Mel-maruvathur ( a place on the NH47 between
Nagercoil and Thuckalay) with the assistance of the Venad King –
Veera Ravi Kerala Varman.
(2).The Mukhamandapom in front of the sanctum sanctorum
(Srikovil) was built by one Thiruvikraman Nampoothiri of Mullamangalam in
the year AD1620.
